After2AM Cinema is a native Apple TV client for Jellyfin. To use it you'll need your own Jellyfin server — After2AM Cinema is the player, your server is the library.

The mobile apps include movie and episode downloads for offline playback. Each download is transcoded before transfer to prepare a format suited to your device and reduce the file size. They also include profile selection and an automatic intro skipping option in settings. Both features are coming soon to Cinema for Apple TV.

After2AM Cinema prefers direct play and falls back to HLS transcoding (via your server) for formats the Apple TV can't play natively. If a title has audio dropouts with HomePods in your Apple TV audio setup, open the transport bar and switch on HLS Override (the waveform icon). Playback rebuilds as HLS and resumes from the same moment. HLS Override is specific to the tvOS app; it is not part of the iPhone or iPad apps.
Cinema 2 supports up to 5.1 audio in HLS Override mode. While HLS Override is active, use the Language menu to switch Jellyfin audio language. For recurring HomePod/AirPlay issues, enable Prefer HLS for HomePod/AirPlay under Connection → Playback to request HLS playback automatically. If HLS still doesn't play, make sure your Jellyfin server is healthy and has transcoding available for that file. Sending me the title and its format helps me look into it.
On iPhone and iPad, the upcoming app lets you download movies and episodes for offline playback. Videos are transcoded before downloading to suit your device and reduce file size.
On Apple TV, Cinema streams from your Jellyfin server and does not offer offline media downloads. Library listings and artwork are cached on your Apple TV for quick browsing, but your server must be reachable to play a title.
If your server's access token expires or is revoked, the app returns you to the Connect to Server screen. Select or re-enter your server, then sign in again to continue.
